The American University of Paris

Founded in 1962, The American University of Paris (AUP) is the oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe. Its rigorous academics, complemented by its international environment, make it one of the world’s most prestigious universities. An independent college of liberal arts and sciences, AUP is accredited in the U.S. by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. AUP is an urban university, with six buildings centrally located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, on the Left Bank, near the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. Participants of the Abroadco High School program will be considered by AUP as regular university students. As such, they will enjoy the rights and privileges, and will be governed by all AUP summer policies and procedures.

Academic Resource Center

The ARC offers assistance with library and internet research techniques, student tutoring, and houses the Writing Lab.

Bookstore

A non-profit service to AUP students, dedicated to providing educational materials at affordable prices. In addition to selling books, audio cassettes, computer software and reference guides, the Bookstore offers fax and photocopy services, sells telephone cards, AUP clothing and memorabilia.

Computer Access

Four student computer labs offer all software necessary for research and coursework. Students have free e-mail accounts and internet access, as well as the use of printers.

Library

The University library houses more than 70,000 books and provides access from anywhere on campus to the electronic edition of more than 8,000 journals.

Sports

The Student Activities Office organizes evening and weekend soccer and basketball games near the campus buildings.

Student Activities

Throughout the summer, the Student Activities Office organizes events on campus and outings that are open to all AUP students either free of charge or for a minimal fee.

Writing Lab

The Writing Lab allots half-hour appointments to students requiring help with academic writing assignments.
